What is its practical application?
After a surgical procedure, the lymphatic channels, responsible for the draining of the lymph, are damaged and recovery very slowly. Lymphatic drainage helps with this draining of liquid and toxins from the body, reducing swelling and preventing seroma (pockets of localized fluid) and the undesirable fibrosis (fibrous tissue) that can be formed after liposuction.
How is it performed?
With massages over the entire operated area, and on specific points that activate the lymphatic ganglia and carry the lymph to them, facilitating the drainage of the lymph.
In the beginning they are very mild in order to avoid pain during the session, since it is done over the operated area.
Is ultrasound used?
Yes. Ultrasound causes the agitation and impulsion of the liquid particles, reorganizing the fibers, which end up forming fibroses most of the time after the surgery. Ultrasound makes them disappear quickly.
When is it recommended?
In all surgeries, but especially for liposuction, abdominoplasty, gynecomastia, mammoplasty, breast prostheses and lifting.
When can I begin the treatment?
During the post-surgical follow-up appointments, the doctor will release the patient to begin the drainage sessions, which can begin on the 5th to 10th day after the surgery.
How many sessions will I need?
An average of 10 sessions, but during the post-surgical evaluations the doctor might recommend that you continue with the sessions.
Can it be done at home?
